Press Release – Scotiabank building at 311 Main Street

McBride Community Forest is pleased to announce it has purchased the former Scotiabank building at 311 Main Street. We would like to acknowledge Scotiabank’s commitment in working with the Board to complete this transaction on reasonable terms.

We are also pleased to announce that we have entered a long-term lease agreement with the McBride Daycare Society (Little Munchkins Daycare) to utilize the building for their programs. In the coming months Little Munchkins will be able to operate all of their childcare programs under one roof, increase their available spots and in the future will look to deliver new community programs in the evenings and on weekends.

Mike Monroe, Chairman of the MCF Board of Directors stated – “The Board is excited to give back to the community and play a role in its future prosperity. I would also like to thank Mayor Runtz and Council for their continued support of the community forest.”

Gene Runtz, Mayor of the Village of McBride stated – “On behalf of the Village of McBride, I am pleased to recognize the McBride Community Forest Corporation for their recent purchase of the former Scotiabank building on Main Street. The McBride Community Forest, through effective Board stewardship and management, has been successful and is now funneling some of their profits back into the community by purchasing a building to lease as a daycare facility. Access to reliable, high-quality childcare is an essential service that supports working families, helps young families stay and grow in McBride, and strengthens our local economy.

This generous and innovative approach to community investment clearly represents social and economic value that extends beyond forestry and benefits the entire community. Congratulations to the McBride Community Forest for this community investment – your ongoing commitment to both social and economic well-being of McBride is something we can all be proud of.”
